On 11th March, Prof. Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of City University of Macau and Prof. Pan Yishan, Rector of Liaoning University signed an agreement to jointly construct the Ministry of Education humanities and social sciences research (partnership) base (2016-2020).

Under the support of the Ministry of Education and the Government of Macau Special Administrative Region, from 2016, City University of Macau and Liaoning University start the second phrase construction of research base. This research base is operated with reference to the Management Approach for Humanities and Social Sciences Research Base at Higher Education Institutions launched by Ministry of Education. It aims at developing itself as a recognized service provider that contributes to the social and economic infrastructure in Macau and Mainland China. Services will include: scientific research, personnel training, academic exchange and consulting service. So far, there are two overseas partnership bases are approved by the Ministry of Education, and there is only one in Macau.

The atmosphere of meeting was favorable. The representatives of Liaoning University were Prof. Pan Yishan, Rector of Liaoning University, Prof. Lu Jierong, Vice Rector of Liaoning University, Prof. Xia Lixin, Director of Academic Affairs Office, Prof. Hu Sheng, Director of Social and Sciences Department, Prof. Tong Yan, Director of United Front Work Department, Prof. Wang Weiguang, Vice President of School of Economics and Vice Director of Research Centre for Macau Social and Economic Development, Prof. Zhang Hong, Vice Dean of Graduate School and Prof. Lu Jun, Vice Dean of Law School. The representatives of City University of Macau were Prof. Shu Guang Zhang, Rector of City University of Macau and Prof. Li Jiazeng, Executive Director of Research Centre for Macau Social and Economic Development.

During the meeting, the representatives of both sides deeply discussed some issues, such as integrating strength to apply research project, strengthening academic exchange to develop talent, holding international academic conferences, publishing academic journal Research on Social and Humanities Sciences, having cooperation in extensive areas between these two universities.

In addition, Prof. Shu Guang Zhang and Prof. Li Jiazeng visited the old and new schoolyard of Liaoning University, and its Museum of History, Library and the Comprehensive Training Center of Arts. They had deep impression of Liaoning University, because of its outstanding achievement and experience in teaching and researching.
