The institute of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area- Research Centre for Macau Social and Economic Development is an important research think tank of the City University of Macau. The institute is the first research institute in Macau dedicated to bringing forward the Greater Bay Area and Guangdong- Macao cooperation. The full name of Research Centre is Research Centre for Macau Social and Economic Development of City University of Macau and Liaoning University. RCMSED is the extension of Research Centre for Politics and Economy of Transition Countries at Liaoning University, which is one of Ministry of Education Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universities. RCMSED provides a cooperation platform for institutes in Mainland China and Macau to jointly conduct humanities and social sciences. These two institutions are directed by Prof. Li Benjun and Prof. Kuai peng IP.

 

Institute of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

 

        The Institute not only focuses on major practical and forward-looking issues in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, mobilising local and overseas well-known experts and scholars to conduct in-depth research, but also strives to become a first-class high-end think tank, specialising in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guangdong-Macao cooperation and even regional development. Through multi-level theoretical and practical research projects, the Institute provides high-level research services for government at all levels, various market entities (enterprises and institutions, financial institutions, Chinese and foreign investors, etc.), research institutions, and news media in the Greater Bay Area. It also provides information services to strengthen the scientific decision making capabilities for government and enterprises.

 

        The Institute utilizes academic networks within and outside the region to create a series of high-end forums and a series of papers (index) publishing system, to enhance the international discourse power and international influence of market entities at all levels in the region, to tell the story of China (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area) and practice it, and to perform special think tank functions.

 

Inauguration of RCMSED (2011)

 

        Under the guidance of the Outline of China’s National Plan for Medium- and Long-Term Education Reform and Development, the Research Centre is committed to facilitate further cooperation between education institutes in Macau and Mainland China. It is also dedicated to develop a systematic, advanced and stable long-term cooperation mechanism through studying higher education institutions from home and abroad. Moreover, with the help from Macau SAR Government, RCMSED aims to develop an effective way to introduce the philosophy and social sciences developed by institutions in Macau to the international academic community.

 

        The Research Centre is operated with reference to the Management Approach for Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universities (《普通高等學校人文社會科學重點研究基地管理辦法》) launched by Ministry of Education. RCMSED aims at developing itself as a recognized service provider that contributes to the social and economic infrastructure in Macau and Mainland China. Services will include: scientific research, personnel training, academic exchange and consulting service.

 

        RCMSED was established in November 2011. In the past, the Research Centre have conducted researches and provided teach and learn, and community services have been provided under the supervision of the Academic Council of CityU. These activities have achieved significant results. The Research Centre organizes academic forums and seminars of international influence and publishes academic journals, including Socioeconomic Development Research(《社會經濟發展研究》) and Macau of Journal of City Research(《澳門城市研究》). Moreover, the Research Centre forms research teams to conduct social researches and comply research report for relevant governmental department.
